Zanger Hill Stables is located on nearly 10 acres in lovely Berkley, Massachusetts. It belongs to Kim and Mike Janson and their two equestrian children, Michael and Hannah.

Zanger Hill Stables was born in 2005 while Kim Janson was on a business trip in South America. While working as the Vice President of Global Leadership Learning, Organizational Development & Diversity at Heinz, Kim joined colleague and fellow equestrian, Josue Rosensweig, for a day of horses.

Rosensweig had traveled to Belgium years earlier to purchase several prize mares and stallions from Studbook Zangersheide. Rosensweig, owner of Stallions S.A., began breeding in an effort to produce quality horses for his up and coming son, Uri, who had Grand Prix goals. On that fated trip, Kim bought 7 horses. Kim saw the talent and potential of this famous bloodline and followed in Josue’s footsteps.

Our name comes from two important sources. The “Zanger” portion comes from Zangersheide in Belgium, the famous bloodline. The “Hill” portion is Kim’s maiden name and they live on 10 Hill Street. So it was…Zanger Hill Stables.

Since purchasing the original set of horses, Kim and several International professions have been training these young horses in Chile as well as the U.S. She has shipped several to the U.S. over the last few years and continues to be trained under the tutelage of a world-renown trainer who has produced Olympic champions.

Kim and Mike’s children are actively involved in the horse business. Michael (Mikey) Janson, 14, is an avid equestrian and a successful football player. Michael competes in the Big Equitation ring, the jumpers, and the hunters with various ZHS horses. He spends winters training and competing in Wellington, FL and the remainder of the time competing on the East Coast. Mikey, riding as a 13 year old, had a very successful year in the big eq and jumper rings. He came in second in the $10,000 Jumper Classic at Fieldstone Farms in MA was the Child Adult Jumper Champion at HiTS Saugerties on his jumper Top Secret, won the 2009 SEHA Junior Medal Finals and was in the top 50 at the Maclay Regionals on his 5 year old, Caprichoso Z.

Hannah Janson had a terrific year finishing as the 2009 RIHA Champion in Under 11 and RIHA Hunter as well as Reserve Champion in Under 11 in New England working with two horses, a very young mare, Quica Z, and Heaven Sent, a New England Favorite!

Kim has been an equestrian since age 2. She competed in the Medal and Maclay space as a junior and has gone on to compete successfully in various medal finals as an adult. She is currently the Vice President - Global Leadership and Organizational Development for the H.J. Heinz company.

Zanger Hill Stables has the pleasure of having several people who play key supporting roles.

Josue and Uri Rosensweig. This father and son team has been responsible for the selection, breeding and training of several terrific horses in the ZHS family.

Josue Rosensweig, an international business man who frequently travels in Europe, Asia, Canada, the United States and South America, has competed successfully for years in the Grand Prix arena. Josue, the co-owner of Stallions SA, is largely responsible for the genesis of Zanger Hill Stables.

Uri Rosensweig, 23, also the co-owner of Stallions SA, is a talented professional with a keen sense of how to choose winners. He’s a sought-after rider in the Grand Prix ring, having many wins in his portfolio. His most recent win, the Chilean National Grand Prix Championship, put Uri on the road to the 2009 World Cup and more! Click here to see videos of Uri at the Champion ship: Video 1 | Video 2.
